Presentation on front pastedown as follows: "To Professor Charles M. Andrews with deep gratitude for the inspiring teaching and valuable supervision which did much to make possible the writing of this volume. C. C. Crittenden July 20, 1936" Andrews was considered to be, perhaps, the greatest authority on colonial American history during his tenure. ; Signed by Author
