Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; [20], 596 pages; (title continued) "OF ALL THOSE WHO DESIRE TO BE ACQUAINTED WITH THE PATHS OF PIETI AND VIRTVE. " London: Printed by Tho. Brudenell for John Stafford dwelling in Brides churchyard, near Fleetstreet, 1651." 18cm. , Half morocco, boards, All edges gilt. Wing F2400. Geoffrey Keynes' copy signed "G. L. Keynes August 1913" Inconspicuous bookplate of Charles Whibley, notable book collector, "Sum Caroli Whibley" Whibley, apparently bought this copy from Norman Colbeck, famed antiquarian bookseller, from his catalogue in 1931 as the clipped portion of his listing of this book is loosely inserted. As Colbeck noted in 1931 "Some copies have frontispiece portrait of Luther and some of Fuller. This copy has an emblematic engraving by Robt. Vaughan. [13], [20], 596pp. Pages 438, 439 misnumbered 428 and 429, but 596 correctly numbered. " Binding and flyleaves are early 20th century. Six panelled, ribbed, gilt lettered and dated spine. Heel of spine ever so slightly repaired. Keynes wrote the introduction to "A Bibliography of the works of Thomas Fuller, D. D. Edited by Strickland Gibson, Oxford University Press, 1936. Keynes' own book collection was published by The Trianon Press in 1964 and was entitled "Bibliotheca Bibliographici: A Catalogue of the Library Formed by Geoffrey Keynes. " THIS IS A WONDERFUL ASSOCIATION COPY! ! !
